This last set of maps and chart-porn brought to you courtesy of Mr. Ken Wilber.  His is one of the rare attempts around today to explain everything in the style of Mr. Hegel. I think it promotes very healthy and comprehensive madness.

Today, for good reasons, it is not the fashion for thinkers to boldly attempt to explain everything. It is rare to come across someone with a system claiming to explain The Law, the Empire, the mob of today and the hordes of the dead from which they emerge.  When he is mentioned the Empire’s school-teachers today proclaim the 19th C. school-teacher Hegel as the last and best to try his hand at it.

Despite seemingly & significantly glaring absences  in his myth explaining the history of man and God, the prophetic madness  necessary to tackle this project demands our recognition. Respec’ and happy birthday Mr. Hegel.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (born 27 August, 1770; died 14 November, 1831); pictured above in an 1829 drawing by Friedrich Hensel, in the collection of the Bildarchiv Preussicher Kulturbesitz

‘The genus is therefore present in the individual as a straining against the inadequacy of its single actuality, as the urge to obtain its self-feeling in the other of its genus, to integrate itself through union with it and through this mediation to close the genus with itself and bring it into existence — copulation.’

—G.W.F. Hegel, in Hegel’s Philosophy of Nature (a collection of texts on the subject of nature written by Hegel at different periods in his career)

Finding the right balance creates a healthy, vigorous madness. From both noise and knowledge in the right amounts you can cultivate in yourself a uniquely combustive prophetic outlook.
